American Red Cross
American Red Cross Mission: The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.
Youth Services Vision: Building and mobilizing lifelong supporters of the American Red Cross.
The American Red Cross was founded in 1881 by a battlefield nurse named Clara Barton. To this day, its purpose is to provide disaster relief, education, and many other small community services to people all over the world. These activities range from running blood drives to providing significant aid to countries plagued with natural disaster. In all these situations, Red Cross has had one thing in common: a readiness and motivation to help everyone.
Youth Service Goals
-
Increase community awareness about Red Cross Youth Programming & recognize volunteerism & service.
-
Cultivate opportunities for youth volunteer engagement within all lines of service
-
Targeted recruitment and program development in under-served areas of the Region.
-
Establish strategic partnerships with community partners and deepen standing relationships with institutions
Clubs function like micro-chapters of the Red Cross. Students have the opportunity to choose mission-related opportunities which address their communities greatest needs. Clubs plan and implement projects that will save hundreds of lives from blood drives to disaster preparedness.
